Hi Everyone. This pic was taken back stage at the Palomino Club in the early 90's on one of our special Barn Dance night's, a tribute to Rockabilly greats Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran. This pic of course is me with Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats who performed on this show with Russell Scott on standup bass. Brian's musical idol has always been Eddie Cochran and they performed the Stray Cats classic song "Rockin' With Gene and Eddie". Also on this show was our Guest of Honor, Johnny Meeks who of course was lead guitarist for Gene Vincent's Blue Caps and wrote one of Gene's classics "Say Mama". Johnny was backed up by the Dave and Deke Combo who also did their own short set of Gene and Eddie songs, as did Rosie Flores, James Intveld, Big Sandy, Candye Kane, Russell Scott, Jamie James ( of the Kingbees), Ray Campi, LesLee Anderson, and a surprise guest appearance by critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw. It was one of those nights when we had a line outside down the sidewalk till 11:00 pm waiting to get in. Another nice memory from our Barn Dance years. Thank you everyone!
